| Taking the Fear and Misconception out of Networking
A partnership between the Philadelphia Chapters of Society for Human Resource Management & Association of Career Professionals International
Join fellow human resource practitioners for a lively and informative discussion of career issues facilitated by career management professionals. If you want to get energized and proactively manage your career, are in career transition or want to network with other human resource professionals, this forum is for you!
“Networking” is a word that can strike fear in the hearts of both jobseekers and business professionals, and intimidate both introverts and extroverts alike. It creates visions of dashing around at a business or social function distributing business cards to as many people as possible knowing the majority of the cards will end up in tomorrow’s trash. People hate the idea of networking because they fear it makes them look pushy, disingenuous, or desperate. Tactless and inappropriate attempts to hard sell people for a job or a business lead will have exactly that effect. But networking, when practiced effectively, is a critical skill that adds value in both the professional and social aspects of our lives.
Come prepared to briefly introduce yourself to the Forum attendees. Bring copies of job
