Religion at Work
Workplaces are increasingly grappling with how to accommodate religious preferences while avoiding discrimination claims. In fact, that's why the EEOC – pointing to climbing religious discrimination complaints, recovering $6.4 million in related cases in 2007 alone – issued 2008 updates on compliance. A look at: emerging issues/litigation in the workplace (religious garb, imposing religious beliefs, etc.); factors to consider when reviewing religious accommodation requests (be equal opportunity accommodators when injecting religion into the workplace); potential pitfalls (avoid creating animosity by allowing some, but not others, to express their religion - creeds in competition are a breeding ground for future discrimination, retaliation and harassment claims); the structuring of flexible policies, etc. This webcast will provide you with a lot of relevant information. |
