Our goal is to facilitate career development and/or professional growth of human resources professionals through group or one-on-one partnerships. Within the mentoring relationship you will experience consistent support, guidance and assistance to achieve your professional goals.
The objectives of the mentoring program are to:
- Provide growth and development opportunities focused on career enhancement.
- Utilize a standard approach that develops the participant’s ability to continue informal mentor/mentee relationships.
- Provide best practices and resources to develop HR professionals that progress the HR discipline.
Why Would I Want to Become a Mentor?
Here are just a few reasons that you might consider becoming a mentor.
- To earn recertification credit hours toward PHR or SPHR certification. In fact, you can earn up to 5 HRCI credits per year, to a maximum of 10 credits over three 3 years!
- To help a less senior HR professional grow and develop his/her career.
- To give back to the local HR community.

- To champion your own professional growth.
- To become exposed to aspects of human resources that you would not typically experience in your day-to-day work environment.
- To garner enhanced opportunities to network with other HR professionals.

Who May Participate?
- Current members of the national SHRM who have affiliated with the Philadelphia chapter of SHRM.
- Those who are currently working within a human resource field.
- College students who have declared human resources as their major field of study.
